The Watch

EZEKIEL'S WATCH

The same commission that was given to Ezekiel, has also been given to Us. The commission is in Ezekiel chapter 3 verses 16 - 21.

And it came to pass, at the end of seven days, that the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore, here the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.

When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turns not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.

Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die; because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

Nevertheless, if thou warn the righteous man, that he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul.

We must warn everyone. As you see, this means telling the nonbeliever about Jesus and the second death, so that he has been warned. If you pass by a non believer without telling him about Jesus, you will have to answer to God for each soul that you failed to warn of the second death they will suffer because of their sins. Not accepting Jesus is a sin!! This is a sobering thought. God then tells us that if we do tell the non-believers about Jesus and the second death, that our souls will be saved, even if the non-believer chooses to reject Jesus.

But then there is more, If we see a righteous man, a believer, committing sins and do not warn him, then we again will have to answer to God for ignoring it. The believer who sins and does not repent, will reach a point where God will reject him, "placing a stumbling block". A believer can repent of their sins and return to God until this stumbling block is placed in his way. This believer who has sinned and not repented, will go to hell just as the non-believer will. If he followed Jesus all of his life but turned away at the end, he can't say to God --Look how long and faithfully I have served You. -- Jesus will say "I don't know you". God warns us here that He will not remember our righteousness (see Mat.7:22-23; 13:25-27), it will all be forgotten. Just as God will not remember our sins if we repent of them, (not hold them against us) so He will not give us credit for the good things we have done if we sin and DO NOT repent.

We are our brothers keeper. God bless Everyone reading this for everyone who reads this have now been warned. The decision on your path is now being made by you. Amen.
